Mahindra attachments

I still can't decide whether a box scraper or a landscape rake will be the tool. After I excavate a driveway and spread the road base material with my FEL I need to refine the grade. I realize that I must stop using equipment at some point and switch to rake and hand screed to achieve the surface I need to lay interlocking stone. Some insight from other operators may help me pick the right tool for the job. To top it all off my Mahindra dealer sells Mahindra implements I can't find any specs on them. Is there anyone that has experience with their implements? I'd be looking at a 5' box scraper versus a 6' rake. Can some one explain exactly what gauging wheels do and why they cost almost as much as the tool itself?

A Rake is pretty much useless without gauge wheels. Every slight up or down motion of your tractor front wheels while using a rake causes an opposite effect on a rake. This makes it impossible to level any soft surface.
A box blade would work better for your needs but it too will do the same thing. It takes a little practice making adjustments and going slow to achieve a smooth screed like surface.
For easy, no skill required, perfect results, get a Landplane.

what exactly is a landplane? Would Tractor Supply have them?

If one was looking for a back hoe or front loader attachment used , is there a specific number to look for? Or are most attachments interchange with Mahindra 4110 etc. as long as it's compact to compact? Is it likely or unlikely to find such stuff?

They do not have them on the website, so I would say no. Here is a picture of one.

Video Looked interesting? I guess riding on runners keeps machine from digging or riding in air depending where front wheels of tractor are? Is there any kind of machine that could dig a ditch on side of road? Sort of like a cultivator that used to be used in corn field. Something that might over lap past rear wheels digging a crude ditch. Big enough to carry a strong spring that runs year round.

Search Google for landplanes. Also youtube has videos of them in use. Everthing Attatchments sells them also. You could check out their web site. A Higher end rake with gauge wheels will probably be comparable in price to a landplane. Hope this helps.

A tilting rear blade can used for what you are asking. Nicer when they can be offset also.

The work I do is in confined spaces, residental driveways I don't think I can get close enough with a landplane.

I don't understand, close enough to what? Might not be able to get into a corner, but should be able to get next to about any edge. If you are going to be doing this for $$$$, you might want to consider getting a few different implements like a good rear blade, box blade and LPGS (land plane grading scraper)
