mahindra HD rotary cutter comparison

I am trying to decide on a new rotary cutter. I have narrowed it down to the 8' HD Mahindra and the 8' AG Modern Predator.

I have a Massey 431 and would like to use a pull behind type. I'm using a 6' cutter now but I have always wanted to widen the footprint. My limitation is the 46HP PTO.

In comparing cutters I found the Predator requires 45HP and the Mahindra 60-70 HP per their literature. Gearboxes compare 100 center/90 HP outboard (Mahindra) to 150 center/95 outboard Modern.n

The Mahindra does not have blade overlap and the Modern has a 3" overlap.

Well as far as HP required does anybody have and opinion as to why the differences.

Can I depend on the requirements listed or do you think they factor in some cushion.

I don't want to dampen your spirits on a 8 ft cutter, however, I have never found a 8 ft rotary cutter that would cut without leaving a streak in the middle (especially worse when cutting higher). I personally would go with a 7 ft or a light duty 10 ft. Ken Sweet

I have an 8 foot Mahindra HD with dual spindles. It's a 3 pt not tow behind. It mows great, very nice quality and seems pretty beefy. It does not leave a streak of grass in the middle at all. I'm using it behind a Mahindra 2555. 55hp, 48 at pto. It has no problems at all through thick grass

As long as you cut low, you will never notice the streaking problem. It shows up when we cut higher as in clipping pastures 10-12 inches. Ken Sweet
