Minhandra 3616 HST
New to this forum pardon any missteps! I am reading about the work-arounds in the various posts about the difficulty in shifting the range selector on a Minhandra HST (mine happens to be 3616).
So my question to this forum is if anyone has had this range selector lever bind or freeze up? I manually got mine stuck in neutral and a friend gently got it into medium range so I can at least use the tractor. Through a dealer I am told due to back log they will have my machine for a month and I should expect to pay between $3,000 and $4,000 or more, plus ~$1,000 pick-up and delivery charges! Damn the bad luck and $5k to resolve the issue ain’t happening. I will run it in M range and get caught up as much as possible then I will bite the bullet and tear it down myself. Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated…

Probably best to post in the Mahindra section. I know at least one Mahindra guy works at a dealership. Maybe @arrow has some insight for you.

have you tried to put a slight amount of pedal pressure both forward and reverse while moving the lever?

Sorry, Just got back to this.
I doubt you need a complete tear down unless there is a broken tooth involved.
1.The post above offered by Hoss is a valid solution unsticking teeth that may not be falling correctly.
2. With the discovery of the gear selector shaft going into the gear housing, spray a good anti seize fluid in there like Kroil or Liquid Wrench and saturate the area.
With a monkey wrench, grab onto this shaft and try to gently rotate in like millimeters at a time until this shaft eventually loses its rust grip. Do this too hard and you risk breaking a gear tooth so go easy.
3. Make sure the linkage itself is not jammed.
4. Please get back to us with what happened.
Stuff like this is very valuable to your fellow and soon to be fellow TBN'ers.
