Mahindra Max 26 won’t start: Requesting tips and Info to replace neutral safety switch.

As it darn cold out and I 'm dealing with a severe rotator cuff injury, I really don't look forward to spinning my wheels figuring how to to replace neutral safety switch. I do not have the service or parts manual for the Mahindra Max 26 but I did find the attached online. I need to replace neutral safety switch and would appreciate any tips or instructions from anyone who has worked on this prior.

PS: Just imagine the cost of buying a Mahindra one piece at a time. Who do they think they are, Deere or Kubota?

Neutral Safety Switch

I have a 3616 which is very similar. Remove the trim strip in front of the plastic dash( one bolt under the hood in the center). Undo the 2 bolts on the front of the plastic trim and 2 or 3 bolts/screws joining the 2 plastic trim halves under the steer column and on the side you want to remove (left). I can’t remember if you have push up the steering column boot. There may be a screw under there. The plastic trim should now be free. Gently pull, wiggle the trim. You may need to pull back the rubber floor panel as well. The safety switch is right there. Not a big job to get at it. A couple of sockets (10 and 13 mm?) and a Philips screw driver. Cam

Good luck with that. We got 3/4 inch of wet snow today followed by some heavy rain and rapidly rising temperatures.
What makes you think you need to change the neutral switch? On our 3616, I had an issue of click, click when trying to start. I added a relay at the start solenoid so that the key and the safeties caused the relay to energize and that pulls in the starter solenoid. That made my problem go away. Cam

If you need to start it today, then follow the instructions above to remove, then connect the two wires together sans safety switch. If it starts, you will know you found the problem, and can replace the part at a later time.
