Hey Yardster,
I bought from Nutron and it was a good experience. Hammond in Auburn is closer to my house than Nutron, however the service wasnt good at all and the price that they gave me was much higher. I had to call them I think 4 times to get an actually price out of them. They would promise to call back but never did. And this was talking to someone who's last name was HAMMOND! This was right around the time that Hammond Equipment was purchased by Hammond Tractor.
The first price Nutron gave me was very fair, I didnt have to negotiate. I had several discussions over the course of a few months and they never had any any high pressure sales tactics, always just answered my questions. Hammond tried to justify their higher price by saying they weld on bucket hooks and add a block heater included in the price. Neither of those have much value to me, I can (and did) weld on a few $5 hooks, and the tractor isnt even close to needing an engine heater.
I had gotten my credit application approved several weeks before I bought the tractor so I think they knew I was serious. When I made the decision, I just called them up and told them how much I wanted to put down and they asked me when I wanted it delivered. At the time, everyone was coming out with 0% financing and i was just waiting for 0% for 60 months. They delivered it on Friday afternoon, we signed the papers and I gave them a check right in my driveway. During my first weekend I managed to break something, in hindsight, it was most likely my fault. I called them on Monday and they got the part shipped to them during the week. The following Saturday, they stopped and installed the part while they were out delivering another tractor.
I've got nothing against Hammond but they dont seem like they really want to sell Mahindra's. They only really want to sell you a Deere IMHO. Arnie at Nutron really believes in Mahindra and that was important to me because I had made up my mind thats what I wanted. I've ordered filters from Nutron and had them shipped to my house. That's my experience with both dealers, I wouldnt hesitate to deal with Nutron again. Also, I wouldnt let my experience with Hammond keep you from trying them out. Lots of things can drive the price of a certain tractor. If I remember correctly, Hammond might of had to order the tractor or maybe it was just the backhoe, Nutron had two on the lot that looked like they had been there for a little while. That right there could have explained the price difference.
Oh by the way, the 15/16 series tractors are pretty awesome. my 2 cents.
