Have a 2555 HST with factory rear hydraulics. The control has detents that "locks" in either direction. My old tractor hydraulic lever was momentary and returned to center / neutral after each use. Is there a different valve available from Mahindra or can this one be modified so that it doesn't lock? I'm only ever going to use it for snowblower chute and grapple.

Try not operating the valve all the way. Should be feathering control prior to reaching the detent.

The lever connects with a rod that takes a right angle to the valve. It is either engaged or not. Definitely no feathering...

Sorry I have no experience with your model. That detent action is definitely different than the one on my 7520, which gives feathering before the detents.
Pls try to get input from the dealer if nobody chimes in with direct experience here.

The 2500 Series has 3 valves available: 3 position detent (the one you have), 4 position detent (adds Float fuction), and 3 position momentary (always returns to neutral). If you really want to get rid of the detents you'll have to order the momentary valve as the one you have can not be modified, your Mahindra Dealer should be able to help you.

My Mahindra Dealer states that there is only one valve available - the one I have with the detents; and that the detents cannot be removed...
I'm now looking at adding a non-Mahindra third function, as the Dealer quoted $1350 in parts plus unknown labor to install the Mahindra unit.
Has anyone installed a third function in a 2555 HST CAB? (all the pictures I've seen were of open cabs with the direct controlled valves, not mine which are cable controlled)

How the valve is controlled, (cable in your case) makes no difference at all. Do you want to do a true 3rd function or a diverter 3rd function? Different characteristics for each type.

Fairly sure that Mahindra only offers a diverter type 3rd function for their tractors.

In my opinion the diverter type is better for these tractors as well as being easier to plumb. (only my opinion, others DO differ).

If you are a DIY person, you can do this "right" with either type of 3rd function system for about $600 without looking for deals on parts. All stuff readily available off the internet.

Good luck ;)

If you want it to lock, take the end caps off and remove the three balls. It will not lock then. I did it on my tym.
