I am new to the Mahindra machines and trying to figure this one out. We have the mPact XTV 1000 diesel. Ran ok last winter and summer, though it had a couple hiccup's when starting. When I turn the key to "on" the LCD display won't light up or turn on, as it should when starting. I believe this also starts the self check on the machine and then allows it to turn over and start. I get nothing. Only thing I get is the oil light on the other cluster. I've checked the oil and it seems ok. Would low oil keep everything else from working to get this machine to start? The battery is charged and works some of the auxiliary stuff on the machine just fine. I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else and if there is a bad sensor or something that is a common problem on these. Thanks for any help!

My electrical advice always starts the same way. Remove the cables from the battery. Clean the battery posts and the connectors contact area. Reinstall connectors and tighten securely. If you can wiggle them they are not secure. Follow the ground lead to the frame. Clean and tighten. How do you know the battery is good? Charge fully and have it load tested. From here we start troubleshooting.

Only a proper battery test (load test) can tell you if a battery is actually "good." No cluster activity would suggest insufficient voltage (such doesn't draw much amperage); cluster itself could have a bad connection or be bad, but that's higher-hanging fruit.
A 12v battery at rest should be at least 12.5v. Charge it up and let it set for 24 hrs and then check voltage. If you're 12.5v+ then it's time to start looking at the connections (battery cables; frame ground; then cluster connections). But, as noted, only a load test will show the true condition of a battery.
