Yes, I have had the front axle out of my older 4110, had to do a repair to the front diff. one time and a year or two later I had to replace the front diff. I simply used a floor jack under the trans. and got it on jack stands securely.
The driveshaft is inside a tube that goes from the front trans to the front diff. This tube will collapse some so you can access one of the couplers that connect the driveshaft at each end. You loosen the clamp around the tube and it will slide into itself, I use a hammer and piece of wood to hit the little metal tab gently to slide it in. Of course you'll see the small bolts that hold the tube to the trans and front diff that you'll have to remove. You release and slide a circlip you'll see along the axle far enough to allow the splined coupler to slide down the driveshaft until it clears the joint and allows the shaft to come out in your hands. Very simple to understand once you do it once. You do not lose trans fluid nor diff oil when taking the driveshaft out. Each unit has a splined shaft sticking out that is sealed.
