It's not truck specific, but here's some interesting data FYI -- The Lemon Index: Which Cars Have the Highest Maintenance Costs?

Two examples:

Must lead a charmed life because cars/trucks have been good to me...

In 2002 I picked up my factory order BMW in Munich... it is the only new car I ever bought and was working there at the time... I still have it here in California and the sum total outside of oil changes, brake pads and a set of tires have been two window regulators, one battery, and one voltage regulator... the regulators and regulator were each less than $50

It has been very cheap to keep as have been the other cars...

The Toyota Corolla would be the least expensive because it didn't need window regulators or a voltage regulator...

Part of the reason could be I always do my own work...

Did you see where your 67 caddy ranks in cost to repair?

Have not spent anything on it except fuel...

I do know it will need U-joints one of these days... I think it has 6 for the long driveshaft!

Caddy parts are so expensive that even a minor accident might be enough for insurance to total it. I had a 10 year old Caddy once that I damaged the front end (didn't even break a headlight, but damaged the hood and grill, insurance company totaled it. I can see why in a way, I had to replace the radiator 2 years prior and it was $470 for a new one. Caddy's seem to have the highest depreciation rate of any car.

That looks like unreliable data as I couldn't find any dates and costs vary by region. Not to mention Jaguar was left out entirely. It stands to reason the luxury cars cost more to maintain. The shop labor rates start at $200/hr. and go up from there. On cars like Ferrari, it will cost you $3,000+ just to change the spark plugs.

I think the numbers are bogus. :)

For a relatively low-value car over 5 or 6 years old, any accident severe enough to activate the air bags runs the risk of totalling the vehicle...those air bags can be really expensive to replace!
