Massey 5711D, Kubota L4600, Kubota B2601
I have been seriously shopping the MF4707 but, I think a 57xx for about a $7K 'upcharge' for a similar tractor may be a better choice for me.

Massey's website is to say the least, a bit tedious fleshing out differences. Perhaps I missed a good YouTube video but, the one comparing the 4710 to the 5711 was very enlightening. Covid related issues means finding in stock tractors within a 4 hour drive each way is not possible so, I'm left shopping online at the moment with a few select calls to various dealers. Bruno's in Arkansas is likely the primary dealer I'll be shopping from but, I'm starting to hear better things about Texas dealers so, the dealer relationship is an open issue today.

FWIW, no John Deere or Kubota options are in the running though a fair comparison is welcome. I have never been impressed with New Holland but, those are a possible option.

I need loader and 3-pt capacity with good ground engagement and stability on slopes. Kubota's in my experience are built too light, especially at the rear (I need loaded tires and wheel weights to use my L4600 loader to any reasonable capability for example). I have considered a Kubota 7040 but, it seems too light for its class, though fine for a ~20 acre "ranchette".

What are the MAJOR differences in the Massey 57xx series? Is it all farkles and fluff or, are there real capability differences beyond basic engine horsepower?

TIA,
Sid

First let me say again and hopefully somebody at Massey will listen your website is ungodly horrible your literature is even worse this is 2020 be more like car manufacturers websites.

The Kubota m4 71D is pretty comparable the 4707 depending on dealers 4707 is a lot or a little cheaper. The Deere 5M is pretty similar but again that **** green paint and extra charges to be a slave of the dealership make it a hard pass. The only thing stopping me from pulling a trigger on the 4707 is the nearest dealership is 3 hours away and not near anything i want to visit. The Kubota is 1.5 hours and on the way to the doctors for my mom.

There are huge differences in the 5700 global and 5700sl I believe the SL are made in France and only thing in common might be loader options and the 5700 numbers. Vahreberg implements has good YouTube videos on the different models probably where you saw the difference between 4700 and 5700 video.

Sid Post, I owned a 2019 4707 and loved it. Huge capacity improvement over my old Kubota L5740, plus quiet and super comfortable.
What is interesting is that for under two grand, you can get a tuning upgrade for this engine, which is the exact same engine in the oem 100 hp version, that will take
the engine up to 100hp. So if pto hp is an issue, this might be a less expensive solution. If loader capacity or hydraulics are your priority, I'm sure you have spec compared both models.
I'd wait until after warranty, but for two grand to get a 100hp 4707, that's a seriously good deal. I paid 49k btw for a fully loaded cab 4707 with loader, forward grapple hydraulics, glass roof, 34 radial rears, buddy seat, etc.
sold my farm and Masseys and really miss this tractor.

I live in farm country and none of the local farmers would even slow down when I was out mowing roadsides with the Kubota.
With the Massey they would almost stop and look for awhile, the tractor has
serious "street cred". It may be built in Agco plant in China but it was very well put together.

I just bought a green 5090. What's the price point on the units you are considering? The thing that makes the JD so expensive in my opinion is the MSL loader with all the bells and whistles that I bought. Of course if you went green you would have to get another loader so I guess that's a consideration.

What did you pay for your 5090? M R or E? I got quoted 52 for the 4707 58for the Kubota M4-71D and Deere 5075M was 65 and used a different engine than the rest of the line and is a 4X3 instead of a 2X6 transmission. The Kubota M4 is basically a M7060 with a fancy cab so it is a pretty proven setup.

Just the tractor was 58K I think. I got the 540M loader with the single point hook up, 85" bucket with the bucket grapple and a Quickhitch. Those added another 11K. The 520M loader is the unit that is supposed to go with the tractor but it was too small for me. It was 8K. I got the E. It's made in Augusta, Ga. I looked at the 5075 but didn't care for it. I was supposed to get a 5100 but they didn't have any. Still don't. The 5090 is the exact same tractor and engine.

Most of the E is from India and your 12 speed is 4 main 3 sub versus 6 main gears and a 2 speed sub not a huge deal except for the Massey and M4 have a declutch button for main gear shifts. Really the 4707 is more comparable to the M series with all the features it offeres.

Yes, Vahreberg is one of the better YouTube dealers for Massey. I have watched several of their videos and was impressed enough with them to call the dealership. Unfortunately, I am outside of their service area so, they won't sell me one of their tractors.

I like the John Deere "BxxxM" series tractors but, they are significantly more expensive. All the 'bad' dealer concerns are an issue for me and they are out of the running for me. Proprietary software is also a real turn off for me too. Forcing me to only be able to use an authorized factory dealer for service is a real concern. Having seen Massey and other dealerships close, what would I do if I can't service my tractor do to Proprietary software?
