Yes it does it in H & L only when the pedal is in its last 1/2 inch of travel but stops 1 or 2 sec after release it sounds like it is coming from under the seat not closer to the engine no grinding other than that the trackor seems to work fine
Thanks for any help

You are probably getting some friction between the PTO shaft and the mainshaft which surrounds it. you might try overfilling the oil in the trans and see if it quits down, you can drain it back down to normal, this seems to help this problem.

It might also be that your clutch throw-out bearing is not fully disengageing from the clutch fingers(clutch pedal free travel improperly adjusted).
What type oil are you running in the gearbox? What is your outside air temp?
Noise locations can be very deceiving on these things since there is so much metal to conduct noises around. I find a mechanics stethescope very helpfull in pinpointing unusual noises(about $5 at Harbor Freight) or a long screwdriver held with one end on a spot on the machine and the other end either against the bone behind the ear(with ears plugged) or against the plastic cup of hearing protector earmuffs.

There is a o-ring that seperates the main shaft and the PTO shaft, we have had a few tractors that this o-ring broke which made the tractors have a whinning sound as you engaged the clutch, you have to split the tractor to replace it. Hopefully thats not it,but it sounds like it
