I need a machine to help me unload skids from my trailer/pickup. Skids contain up to 6 crates that weigh about 200lbs (each crate). If needed I can unload one crate at a time or the entire skid. I need to unload the load about 1-2 times per month and speed/efficiency is not an issue.
So, instead of buying a forklift that would be just sitting there for most of the time I thought of getting a skid steer because it much more versatile. But now I'm thinking on selling my old Bolens 18HP riding mower and getting a used yard tractor with mower, tiller and loader attachment. This way can get the forks for the loader to deal with my lifting needs.
What do you guys think? What brand has the best lift capacity? What brands/models should I consider?
