Tractor
R3039
Tomorrow, (monday) I will call the local dealer to order my LS R3039. I have read many good things about them, I have called the LS company 5 times randomly through out the day and someone always picked up on the by the 3rd ring.

Need to know if the price is right for the below tractor:
LS R3039
with FEL, Box blade, filled tires (slime) canopy and free delivery
cost $19,500 OTD price (thats tax, everything out the door price)

I will use this tractor mostly for moving dirt and maintaining a 1/4 mile gravel/dirt road and clearing brush on our acreage.
Is this a good deal?

LS Tractor USA was established in January of 2009, Despite answering the phone on the 3rd ring, I question if LS is going to be in the US market for the long run. I believe that there isn't anything wrong with the tractor, but since they are new in the market, they have a relatively small investment in the US market. Because they have become the compact tractor supplier to NH, it could be very easy to turn all North American sales over to NH and quietly exit the NA market.

History points to Yanmar in the '80's. They had their own dealers until they began selling green Yanmars as John Deere's. They were out of the NA market until they came back selling their tractors with CubCadet and now by themselves, nearly a 25 year absence.

A more recent example was the Montana tractors some of which were built by LS, they also folded leaving owners without an functioning dealer network.

Personally, I'd look at the money you are saving against the money that you will loose at trade in if LS exits the market. I'd look at the more established brands that have larger dealer networks. If you really like the tractor, look at the LS tractors that have the NH decals on them. You know that they will be around for service in 20 years.

Let someone else be the Guinea pig, if they are around in 10 or 15 years, that shows commitment, for now, if it wasn't one of the big brands, I'd look at Kioti (Bobcat), or Mahindra. Both have been around long enough to show staying power.

Thanks for making things more complicated!:laughing: Yes I thought of that as well. something really to consider but looking at the specs and the mitsubishi s4l2 parts should be available even if they bow out of the NA market.

But I should consider what happens to the 5 year warranty?
Thank you for the advice on looking at NH.. I kind of blew them off.

Its hard to give an opinion on the cost when you included tax in the price, don't know is it 2% or 10%?

If you aren't sure, do more research and look at all of the different tractors at area dealers.

State + City tax is 9.6 so that would make the tractor price : $17628

were you not worried when you bought your LS?

No I wasn't worried it close to a year now. Check out the brands that are around and their dealers too. I would try to stay close to home with a good dealer.
Edit try posting in the LS Forum for a price.

Yep. thats what I am doing. The only major kubota dealer here is bringham who are very very exspensive. They too sell the NH line
The dealer I am working with for the past 4 months service is awsome. They also sell Mahindra tractors. I will call and ask him the situation if LS goes out and try to find a comparable Mahindra but thats most likely lots of extra $$$
thanks,
