Making contacts on right of way & industrial Jobs?

Wondering how yall make contacts or find out about right of ways clearing jobs. There are tons of gas/oil pipelines, electrical and railway ROWs near me. Should i just start calling the utility companies and send emails untill i make the right connection?

My company is currently a bushhogging/mowing/spraying contractor for Union Pacific railroad. We maintain 3 depots and approx 30/acres of fields around track interchanges.

I'm looking to expand into more of this type of work. My company is licensed in Louisiana as Arborist, Utility Arborist, Landscape Contractor, Irrigation Contractor, and Commercial Applicator.

I would like to land some longterm work in my area.
By the way I'm in Southeastern Louisiana.

Does LA have co ops for power? That would be a place to start at least where I live. Find a contractor who is already doing it and is overwhelmed. I had one contact me awhile back because he couldn't keep up and didn't want to lose the contract. I passed on bidding because the territory would require me to spend the night on the border..Mexico.. and equipment has been known to disappear more frequently over there.

Try looking at "demandstar" lists a lot of local goverment work if the counties/cities in your area are part of it. Its free to join/veiw, but its like $5.00 to download the plans/specs. In Florida much of the county RoW mowing contracts are listed there.

I think Union Pacific. We're north or Houston a ways and have several lines going thru. Once we get our house built I am buying a decent sized tractor with cab and might get a bat wing if there's any work. Already have a $1m liability insurance policy thru my side biz. Always looking for a way to make a little something on the side or pay for my tractor
