Yeah, he could have even been standing along side in front of the rear tire and just not gotten out of the way fast enough. Very bad deal.

That would be my guess...and if the RPM was fairly high, the tractor would move pretty quickly.

Real shame and definitely a tragedy...especially since his wife witnessed the whole thing.

Ya the alis charmer 170 is 6000 lb.tractor at the gun club, an evertime someone comes close to the tractor i stop an tell them to stay back just in case something like that would happen.

Well it wasn't the same person I was thinking it was, however a good friend of mine who is a logger was there when it happened. The man was in front of the rear wheels talking to his wife. Apparently the brush hog was running at speed because when it drove over him it removed both arms and one leg. The man was alive and conscious till the ambulance arrived. Medflight helicopter also arrived and landed in a field. He passed away aboard the helicopter en route to the hospital. Terrible terrible deal for all parties involved. My friend said flatly he doesn't know if he will ever get the images out of his mind.

How big was the tractor and cutter?
