Another pathetic group of customer service companies is the airline and travel sector..anyone had to cancel a flight or travel plans in the last few months.... talk about a test of will power.

AT&T has been trying to abandon their copper analog landline business for nearly a decade. They announced a year 2020 implementation but for those with no broadband or fiber access this is going to be problematic. It’s pretty evident that the good old phone line is being retired.

That would support what I seem to see here..... those roadside junction boxes are falling apart, getting ZERO upkeep (and this is while we were having our signal routed through one)

I had a land line issue....turns out down the road, the wire between two of the boxes had gotten mucked up....so their fix was to patch a wire to one box, lay it OVER land, through some woods and through a parking lot to the next box to complete the line. So now, I have vehicles driving over the wire in the parking lot. Wire got moved to go a bit around the lot (just a small 2-3 car graveled space)

I finally got fedup with ATT and like many others, went wireless.

those wires are still there going around the parking lot and the boxes are falling apart.

Every now & then, I get a nasty thought in the back of my head to accidently allow my 15' flexwing mower run over one of those boxes when I'm cutting the roadside.....but the responsible part of me continues to win.

I have an open contract from a contractor whos done siding for 30 years. The vinyl siding I ordered was so called special order....was just certanteed monogram arbor siding thats all. i signed the contract in May, sent 1700 dollar down payment and up till now got one email for all his customers saying there was significant delay in orders because of COVID. Here it is August 7 and no schedule or word on material eta form him.
Im starting to worry I lost 1700.....and that I should just cancel this all together and scape\sand and paint the house myself. Problem is I have no vacation time left to do it. Not sure what to do.....

My 90 year old Mom just had trouble with her (garbage) VOIP linefrom a large provider COGECO. She somehow got tricked into getting rid of her copper BELL line.

Anyhow, we got the matter resolved and she gets a letter, and shipping labels saying she has 48 hours to return all equipment, modems, receivers, cables, remotes, or will be charged for same. NO EXPLANTION. Of course, she immediately, thought I set this into motion.

She called them and they told her, her account was current and not to worry about it. Just Ignor the letter. "Many People Got That in Error".

T-Mobile, awesome service and 3 lines cheaper than 2 with AT&T or Verizon, was with Verizon since their inception, then after the divorce went to AT&T for a couple of years and they got to the point it was daily frustration.

I use the 2 extra lines as hotspots, one each at the big farm and the hunting farm. I use Roku and stream the content I want and get free Netflix on all 3 lines. There is very little need for satellite or cable. I keep 150 mile outdoor antennas at both houses, but there isn't anything worth watching, I'd rather fix fence or go fish than listen to people rattle about useless crap.

a few years ago i had severe static on my land line. the cell is so unreliable it wont hold a conversion for 5 minutes so keep a land line.

so i call and get some one with an accent that suggests his first language is not English and we go round and round. finally a tech is supposed to fix it tomorrow.
a week later same trouble. winter and wet lines and the tech would go switch pairs at the corner.

so i call and get another non English dude and this time i am mad, nice, but mad. i ask for his badge number. "me no got badge"
dont give that if you work for AT&T you have a badge and i want your number. 'me no got badge'
ok, i want to talk to your supervisor. 'me no got supervisor'
i know you have supervisor and you better get him on the line. 'me no got supervisor'

alright if that is how we play this get a pencil and write this number down and i read off the number for the public service commission and tell him what the number is for and if you dont believe me call and check.

then i read off the number for the president of AT&T and told him the next call would be to the president--dont believe me call and check.
you really should tell your supervisor.

at ten till seven in the morning a tech was plowing in a new line to my house and we have had wonderful service.

i hear since i retired that the president nor the public service gives a rats butt now days

If you paid money with credit card you should be ok (chargeback). I would do some checking with BBB about the contractor and his reviews also, and I'd call the vinyl siding manufacturer also.

I own a small business. We are moderately successful. I attribute it mostly to treating our customers the way I expect to be treated as a customer. No big mystery, just be nice.

We paid a contractor $50k last September 7 for a ductwork fire protection system. First excuse: by the time they got the equipment there was too much snow (it was to be installed on our roof). Come Spring and clear/dry roofs, "Covid". Literally the day they were supposed to come they called and said "there are no restaurants open" (though there were many open for take-out). After 4 months we finally convinced them that they were considered essential workers since our company was allowed to work and their work was a matter of public safety. OK, Part 1 done.

Now we need the interior part done. "Oh, well since you need the interior part done over a weekend we can't even think about doing it in August - all my foremen have vacation". Really? Vacation, when they have been off work for how many months??? So now our (we'll see) scheduled start date is September 11. Yeah, I guess we'll see how that works out....
