Mandatory- where you from?

Just curious , but why not make it mandatory to put in your profile where you are from. Usually the 1st question someone answering a question is where are you from. It has a lot to do with them answering the question. zman

I don't like mandatory stuff. But I do agree that the members should give us an idea of the area they that live in. Do they have snow in winter? Do they live in hurricane country? Does it get -40 degrees where they live? There are many posts that I will not reply to if the member doesn't give me the area that they live in.

I think people are "nervous" about signing up for a forum... worst if it's their first time. The more questions they are asked... might scare people away... and the board lives by getting new members to sign up.
