I'm eagerly awaiting my TC, oops I mean DX, -29's arrival. Reading the manual, they call for Hy Tran Ultra in the gearbox etc. for both transmissions. I'll probably be using an equivalent that meets the same standards rather than the dealer brand oil, but I just wondered what the NH book says to use since the tractors are the same mechanically. If I recall, Hy Tran is a Case IH line of oil isn't it?

Have the standards for hydraulic oil changed much lately? I have a 5 gallon container of tractor oil that meets the requirements of a bunch of brands, but I haven't looked for Hy Tran Ultra on the label yet. What happened to the old letter system for oil, like service MS, SF, SJ or whatever? I presume those are still out there. What is the SAE standard equivalent to Hy Tran Ultra?

Most NH stuff is using the MSC134D oil AFAIK.

I also use a generic UTF.. tsc or supertech in my tractors..

Rich, New Holland's brand name is "Ambra" for their fluids. Here's a link to Neil Messick's great on-line NH and Kubota parts site.
