Spreader manure spreader - fine spread pan?

I'm looking at buying a manure spreader to spread a mix of composted manure and dirt on my vineyard. I see many have a "fine spread pan" option. I think I need it, since my material is fairly fine and probably doesn't need so much to be flung out by the paddles. Can anyone explain how the fine spread pan works? Any pictures or videos of how it works?

This is something I have been wondering also. I'd like to spread Com-Til and I've been wondering how to do that effectively. Thanks for starting this thread.
