I ended up ordering a Frontier 1108G. It works great. Pulled it with my Polaris Ranger Crew and loaded it with the JD 4720 FEL.

As required - here are pics.

Looks like a good basic spreader. How do you like it?
Without a doubt I wish I had your equipment buget!!!!
Good luck with it.

Darin, how did it pull behind the Ranger? I'm a bit torn between ground driven vs. PTO. I am leaning towards a ground driven for the exact reason you got yours . . . so I can pull it behind a UTV and load it with the DK.

Any pictures with it near/next to the 4720 . . . for size comparisons?

It works great. It is the largest ground driven model Frontier sells. I really didn't want a PTO powered one. I just use it to clean up my pastures where I hay, and the barn when I have a sick cow or so in there.

Equipment budget? ****, the B word again.

The ranger pulled it just fine. 4wd in low and it goes. You can tell it has a load on it when it is full. No pics with the 4720 next to it. I can shoot one of those later. I put the spreader in the shed, but I can put a tractor next to it for comparison.

About 5 full bucket loads it what it will handle. This stuff was wet, nasty, etc. The ranger was squatting some when I put the first load in it.

It is hard to tell from the pics, but the beaters are made of heavy duty steel. For some reason I thought they were plastic or something. The unit is much better quality than I first imagined.

Now, with that said it sits very low. Getting it on and off a trailer is a hassle. I will use my tilt bed next I need to move it. It can drag on the gear box in ditches, etc.

All in all, I think I made the right decision with this unit. I spent around 3-4 hours spreading a couple mountains of crap.

Good info D. Sounds like the type/size unit I need. Do you still have your Gator HPX or are just using Ranger. I assume the HPX will pull it too?

I still have the Gator. It is at the JD Dealer - hoping to be sold soon. I believe it would pull it just fine. I pulled a 16' trailer full of stuff many times with my ole Gator without an issue.

We have a 50 bushel Frontier (1105?) that we pull with either our Gator XUV or JD 870. The gator has no trouble pulling ours. These small spreaders can be very handy!
