I had the strangest thing happen to me this morning while harvesting trees for firewood. I was dropping a sugar maple with a wicked lean, using the farmi winch to make sure it went the right way. As I made the first cut, there was a huge gush of water where in past experience only wood chips were supposed to be! Startled, I pulled the Husky out of the cut and about 20 gallons of water soaked my pants! Darnedest thing I'd ever seen! "Never seen sap run like that before!" was my first thought. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
It wasn't till I dropped the tree that I discovered the heartwood had rotted out and become a reservoir for rainwater. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
