I've been shopping on the web for a new water heater and I came across a company called Marathon. They use a plastic tank in their heaters so there is no anode rod. They give a lifetime warranty on the tank and 6 year warranty on the other parts. They are highly rated in terms of energy efficiency.

It seems like a great choice but local dealers are not familiar with them. Anybody got any experience with these tanks? Thanks.

Our local EMC only sells Marathons. I'm getting ready to get one myself (The $150 rebate exipres soon!!). They have a lifetime warranty and are very energy efficient. It sounds like a win-win. I have researched water heaters on the web and the only ones more efficient are the "instant" heaters. I would need new wiring and the initial cost is a lot steeper. I don't know if I could live long enough to recover the start up price differences!! I decided on the Marathon. Good luck.

A wise man once told me; "A man is never so old that he does not believe he will live one more day."

Of course it has absolutely nothing to do with your original post but ....I sort of like that one.
