I am going to buy a toothbar and wondered if anyone has a compelling reason why I should pay more for the Woods product rather than the Markham welding unit.
They look very similar, and I have been very impressed with my Woods box blade, but there is almost $100 difference, which I will promptly put towards a cruise control for my bx2200...

I just made the same decision last week.

My Markham toothbar came in on Wednesday. It is incredibly well built and the welds are exceptional. Unless the Woods offered some type of diamond-tipped teeth, you could not possibly get a better product than the Markham Welding toothbar.
It was half the cost of a Woods. (and they were excellent to deal with!!!) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree with SeymourBota. I received my Markham toothbar last week. Ordered on Monday morning, I picked it up at the freight dock on Thurday morning.

They ship by Conway Freight lines. I could have gotten it Wednesday but Melissa Markham told me I needed room for an 18 wheeler to park and had to sign for it. Since I was going to be out on Wednesday I had them hold it at the dock for pickup.

When they ship it Melissa will call you with delivery information and the shipping number.

Good product, excellent customer service.

Be careful when you pick it up. There was a sharp edge on the end where they had shearhed the bar and I got a small cut on my hand. Best to wear gloves.

I've gotten a lot of use out of my Markham toothbar since I got it in early August. Excellent customer service, fast delivery, and it's a very well built product. I've used it to dig holes to plant trees, dig up and break up concrete sidewalks and edging, tear out trees and move them, tear out and move brush, etc. It's been worked hard and put to the test, and it's held up fine, and no broken teeth.

My machine is basically the same size as yours, except my bucket is 1.5" wider. The toothbar was on for the first 2 months of ownership, but it's come off recently in anticipation of clearing snow. It goes on and off easily - yesterday, I put it on to dig a hole, then removed it as soon as I was done digging to do finish grading and other chores. It weighs about 70 lbs, so you'll notice it will affect certain operations of the bucket when near it's limits.

To sum it up, I don't see how you can argue for paying extra for another toothbar - get the Markham.

I have owned both Woods and Markham. My last tractor had a Woods loader and a Woods toothbar. It took 2 weeks from time of order until I received the toothbar. I was very pleased with the Woods quality and it's performance.
With the tractor I have now I ordered the Markham bar. It was about $70 cheaper and they delivered it within 3 days! Since it didn't get here in 2 days like the trucking company promised, shipping was free! The quality is as good as the Woods, I am very happy with it. The Markham people are super to deal with.
If I had to do it again Markham would be my choice, no question.

no- via truck. The shipping price is comparable to UPS 3-day, (if you have it delivered to a business or pick it up at the local shipping depot).
