JYRT - If you are not familiar with the workings of your tractor I suggest that you purchase a service manual for it. I would also try to find an older owners manual as well. There are plenty of people on here to help you but you really need the manuals to help you more understand what we are talking about. Do you have any pictures of it that you can post up?
