Massey 1020 drive shaft removal

I need to drop the drive shaft for the four wheel drive so I can remove the oil pan. I have a manual ordered but wont have it for a few days.

I don't have the patience to wait for it . This is the first time I'm doing something more than just oil changes and lubes......Ok to my question . This drive shaft is mounted by 3 bolts on the back and 2 on the front of the shaft . After removing these bolts do I have to remove the front of this axle housing to slide the drive shaft forward or how do I get it to drop? I've tried to find this information on line but can't find it. If I need to supply more information for help please ask away. I will try and tell you what I know. Thanks

G'day don't know your machine but most have a cover over the shaft can you slide yours together to see an inner shaft and locators??

Jack up the front of the machine, Disconnect the steering, Loosen the hose clamp on the middle of the driveshaft, remove the 2 bolts and slide the whole front end forward. It's just on a spline. When I split mine I moved the whole front 1/2 of the tractor but you should be able to go it just by moving the front end.

Thanks racerboy832. I got your reply a little late. I rely on my posts always showing up on my phone and they don"t. What I ended up doing was taking the four bolts out that holds the front axle like you suggested . But then I blocked up the tractor and put a jack under the axle and removed the tires. Then I was able to lower the axle low enough to slide the oil pan past the drive shaft. Just another way to skin the cat....I really appreciated everyone help on here.:thumbsup:
