Howdy folks. I'm hoping someone here can give me some guidance on fixing a leaking control valve.
I have a Massey 1205 compact utility tractor with model 1242 loader. it's got a Nimco control valve with a joystick for the loader.
The rear of the valve has developed a leak. The oil appears to be coming from the Caps at the rear of the unit that cover the spools.
What I'm not clear on is whether or not this is an issue with the gasket for the cap, or an o-ring on the spool itself that blew out and allowed oil to get as far as the cap.
There's a couple of little allen screws that hold the caps in place and I tightened them a little, but it did not slow the leak .
I'm mechanically inclined, but this is my first tractor with hydraulics, so I'm not familiar with how these things go together and come apart. Any tips/tricks/or noted special tools that might be needed would be greatly appreciated.
Am I wrong in thinking that I can just replace a couple of o-rings to fix this?
Thanks for your input.
