My seat switch on my Massey 1215 seems like it is not sensitive enough. I have to sit forward on the seat to get it to engage, and even at that the engine cuts out when I bounce around going over bumps.

I've had it off to look at it, and I don't see anyway to change the sensitivity of it.

I know I can just disable it, but I'd really like to keep the safety feature if I can make it work. How do I adjust the sensitivity of this switch?

Is it in a fixed location or can it be moved? Maybe it is too far forward.

If it isn't too far forward maybe it needs replaced. can it be lubed with say WD40, or is it sealed. Mine has one but haven't looked at it, although I had to disable it to mount and run the backhoe..

It's held in place with three bolts... Pretty much fixed.

It's sealed as far as I can tell. I looked to see if there were locking nuts or some way to put it in further to increase the sensitivity, and there's just the one ring nut that holds it in place. The mechanism seems to move in and out fine, and when I have the switch off the tractor, it seems to work. When I push it in, it runs in gear, when I let it out it dies.

I thought for sure there'd be some way to adjust it, but I sure can't see it.

How much do you weigh?? :D

Has the seat gotten a wear spot inside where the button touches the seat?

Here's an idea, If it does not appear to be going high enough into the seat do you have any of those rubber/vinyl type vacuum cover plugs that would slip on the top of the switch plunger(button) that would lengthen the height of the plunger just a bit to make it have contact sooner making it somewhat more sensitive ...;)

I'm about 190 lbs. That should be plenty to activate the switch.

There's a rub spot on the plastic underside of the seat cushion where the button hits, but there's no indentation. I've tried putting some extra foam in there, but I haven't found the right thickness yet. Your idea about the cover plug may be the right way to go.

Mostly I'm just wondering if the switch is going bad such that a new one will fix the problem, or if it's just the nature of things with this model of tractor/seat/switch.
