Hello,

Just bought my first 4wd tractor, a MF 1230. It has what looks like 2 levers for 4WD.

How do I engage and dis-engage 4wd?

I have attached a picture of the levers.

Thanks, Paul

Hello, welcome to TBN.

So, the left lever is indeed for the 4WD. UP = Engage, DOWN = Disengaged.

The right lever is to turn on the the Mid PTO. UP = Engage, DOWN = Disengaged.

The Knob furthest to the left, is to control the down speed of the 3 pt hitch. Fully closed, the hitch won't lower any.

I appreciate the reply and help.

I thought the lever to the far right with button on top of it was to switch between the mid and back PTOs.

If I understand correctly, the lever that is closest to the sticker for 4wd is actually for 4wd and the one to the right of it (that looks exactly like it) is for turning the mid PTO on and off?

If so, then is the lever (handle) to the far right with the button on top to switch between the mid and rear PTOs and the other one (closest to it is to turn the ptos on and off)?

Thank you, Paul

Yes, at least that's my understanding.

I would say the lever with the button on the far right is the parking brake.

Thank you, Paul

Answered in red.

Unless you have other way to apply the parking brake, to me that lever would indeed be for the parking brake.
