I looked at a 130 Massey with Perkins 4 cyl diesel recently. Smokes very heavy for 3-4 minutes, then calms down to moderate smoke consistently after that.
What are the feelings on causation for this symptom? Obviously, residual fuel comes in when the machine is shut down, then smokes up when pressure ignited upon starting.
I priced rebuild kits in the US, and in England. Around 700 from England, have not found anybody here that has them....yet.
Is this unit worth a shot, albeit at a 2k selling price or is it just too dangerous to expend that much money for what could be a totally shot engine? I just don't have the background in this type of engine, although I've been around oil burners many times before.
thanks to all
