We seem to being having a hydraulic issue...
Last night my neighbor brought his 135 (gas) model over so we could work on it in the garage. He has been having some minor hydraulic issues for a long time and wanted to address them. Basically his three point would drop so he found some information that a little "lever" pops out inside the case and you pull the top of they hydro unit off, pop it in place and your all set.
Well, We top the side plate off, removed the roller, pulled the seat, then pulled the top of the hydro unit. We found the little piece and put it in place and put it all back together. Seemed fairly easy. Then when we started the tractor nothing on the 3 point worked at all -no up, no down, nothing. Well we figured out the pick up tube did not seat when we put the top back on so I pulled the tube and it seated. Figured we were all set and no big deal - we start the tractor and the hitch went right up - problem being the levers were in the down position. It then seemed to hydro lock in the up position. After about an hour of looking at it ( mainly just saying "what is wrong with it - I don't know" back and forth) I got the idea to undo the 2 bolts on the top of the hydro unit that hold the pickup tube down. After a nice shower of hydro fluid the hitch went right back down. We cleaned it up put the tube back in, top the fluid off and tried it again - exact same thing - went right up and hydro locked.
We are guessing a valve is stuck, maybe? Anyone know of something we may have done to cause this? We are pretty much clueless on this as neither of us have ever done much with hydraulic system and this is the first time I ever messed with a Massey.
THANKS

Just went to move the tractor or to pressure wash all the oil off it and get a better look at it - well it made a hydro fountain from the top of the case where the tube goes down in. I am guessing ti is where you would add an aux hydraulic bypass or port if needed. Soon as I put ti in gear and started to let out the clutch fluid came from all angles out of the little plate area. Made one heck of a mess...... Any thoughts?
THANKS

Below is the Hydro Lift Assembly. Now explain again what you did exactly as you remember it. Keep in mind the stand pipe under the Transfer plate has O ring(s) on both ends that must be seated properly. You did put new gaskets on the lift and transfer covers right? Torque all cover(s) bolts @ 50-55#

By running the hydro with an unseated stand pipe may have damaged the pump. I'm thinking you have things out of adjustment. Are you referencing a manual while you do this?

There are adjustment proceedures for the hydro lift assemble. It is complicated and exact. It can't be done without a service manual unless you are a journeyman MF mechanic.

There is someone on here that can probably help. He might can help if he has the time. Post your summary of what you did using the photo to describe the areas you worked on. If Hutch aka shona13 is around he might can shed some light on what is happening (cause and effect) in this case. I'll warn you.

I can look things up in the manual and give you a guess but thats all. The main thing is to describe how the tractor was reacting/working BEFORE the surgery and what you did to it. -kid

Got it fixed - the original problem was the hitch would not stay fixed on one position. If you used a brush hog it would reposition every time it bounced. Once we took it apart there is a small silver lever in the position control that slips between two arms, this was knocked out of place. Got it put back and when we put it together we goofed and made a mistake that caused the problems.
There is a small roller you have to take out to remove the top of the case. When I reinstalled it I let it as it was and didn't pull it back before reinstalling the roller. This left the control valve "compressed" and made the hitch go up and and shot the pressure up. Got the roller repositioned correctly and everything now works correctly including the original problem.
Sorry I don't know the terms for the parts we just had to look at each part and figure out how it worked. It also seems adjusted pretty well and everything is working VERY smoothly now.
Thanks for the info and THANK YOU KID for the diagram!
