I recently purchased a MF135 with 4 rail power-adjust rims. These are 28" rims and I believe they are 12X28 based on the tire size (13.6 X 28).

I am going to have to replace the rims and possibly sooner rather than later. I am wondering if I can replace them with rims that are not power-adjust without replacing the centers, or am I going to have to get new centers and rims to get away from the power-adjust?

Thanks in advance!

You will need centers for non-PA rims. The good news is that used centers are dime-a-dozen since they are rarely damaged when rims rust through.

Figured as much looking at rims that were available and great point about a used center. Any idea what a reasonable price is to take the tire off the old rim and mount on a new one?

Are they only rusted where the valve stem is located? I saw my dad do it once when I was a kid and I've done it on three other rims, but cut a section of the rim out, find a donor rim and cut a patch to replace it.

Prices are drastically different for everything in different parts of the country(compare the price for anything to that on the left coast:eek:) Call around to see what your local price is for rear tractor tire repair. I can tell you it's worth every penny, regardless what they charge.

Even when it go's as planned,it's a back breaking chore. If that doesn't discourage novices from messing with rear tractor tires this might. I was standing around chewing the fat with the shop owner when he pulled a valve core and some sort of solvent vapors escaped and ignited when they reached a torpedo shop heater. Best the shop could figure was someone used flammable solvent and match to seat the bead in the past. Same shop, different day,the new kid who had experience with truck tires overinflated a tractor tire splittung a rusty wheel. The split wheel was loudest and resulted in more dirty drawers but the fireball stayed in everyone's memory longer.
