Massey 135
Hi this is my first time posting ever so please be gentle. I have a Massey 135 with power steering. When I purchased it the steering was broken. (Casing was cracked)
We replaced everything and thought it was good until the casing broke again approx a year later. (It doesn’t get a lot of use just occasional acreage use and only in summer) This time I had a real mechanic fix it and it was fine for a little over a year and then again casing split…he fixed it again paying particular attention to the stops etc…good for a year and it split again. This time I heard it break. So here I am again. What could be happening? Is there enough pressure built up there that could cause this breakage if the relief valve is not working? (I never changed that as you have to change the whole pump) Is this a common problem with the 135s? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Off the top, there may be a restriction in the power steering high pressure line causing an excessively high amount of pressure in the line and the pump. Alternatively, do you continue to saw on the steering wheel when the steering has reached its stop or do you back off a bit? Personally, I think there is something restricting the high pressure side causing the pressure to spike or the steering gear is getting torqued in place wrong--as in it isn't getting mated to an even surface. No matter what, it is something dumb that has been overlooked.
