Just bought the Massey 165 the other day. Can anyone tell me what each slider on the lift controls do? I know that one is the draft? There once was a sticker labeling the two but it has been painted over.

Also what is the "response" control right about the transmission dip stick? There is an adjustment from slow to fast? Is this for the lift?

Wow, someone that is more lost than I am.
The inside square knob is the draft control. It has 3 positions all down is pressure control range. Middle is constant pump range. Top is position control range.
Very complicated deal.
THe outside round know is the draft control lever- simple 3 pt up and down.
But it only works when the inside is at the top, position control range-- to further complicate, you can leave the draft on up and use the inner square to raise and lower the 3 pt. Or not
I just got a 165, 1969 with a front end loader. Its is GREAT!!! still figuring our whats what. Perkins diesel will pull like all getout!!! Yea I'm grinnin.
I have issues with hooking up a 3 point backhoe, Bradco 9MD2 to my tractor, it has the Auxiliary control valve and I cannot figure just where to put the 2 levers on the calve and what hose to hook up where>>

Object moved -> click "view books" beside were it says guest, enter model number and select messy, and you should be able to find online part diagrams....
above will most likely not do you much good...

basic operation.. (what knobs/levers) do, what type of oil to use, what type of maintenance to do and when... is covered in "operators manual" this stuff is not cover in parts manual and/or the shop manual.

the shop/service manual. is big old thick manual that a dealer might have, so techs can dig clear into a specific tractor and test things and put it all back together. full diagrams and instructions on it all. but this manual doesn't cover any of the other 2 noted above.

if you are a DIY'er i would suggest shop/service manual. it can be well worth the cost. and possibly save you more vs trying to guess what is wrong with tractor, when something eventually goes wrong with it. like all tractors.

operators manual, might be worth it, there normally fairly cheap, and some stuff is covered in it. but normally it is one of them ya flip through and then toss into a drawer and never look at it again.
