Looking at 25 HP compact tractors. The Kioti CK2610, Kubota L2501, and JD 3025e are all in contention. The Kioti dealer wants nearly 20k, JD dealer a little more, and the Kubota dealer hasn't returned two of my calls, presumably due to the shutdown. All prices are for tractors with R4 tires, bucket, and financed at 0% for 84 months.

Looks to me like I might be able to get the 1726e for 18k or so with the same loan terms. Dealer is a little further away but not a deal-breaker. Is there anything about the Massey line that should give me pause here? I just want the best tractor for the money, I don't care what color it is.

I'm also wondering if maybe the Kioti dealer gave me a high quote thinking I would come in and negotiate if I was serious.

Re: 1726e

Mr Rush389. Funny you should mention the Massey Fergurson. I looked at a 1740M with a cab yesterday. The shop manager was the one showing me the tractor. I loved it. Then I asked him what models I should avoid. He answered honestly (I think) and advised me to avoid any of the economy model tractors of any brand, as they use cheaper parts to be able to lower the costs. I am not advising you not to buy that model, but please do research on this and other forums before buying a particular model.

Also, keep in mind that this advice is coming from someone who just ruined his tractor (see the thread "looking for another tractor" for the details) so take my advice with a LARGE dose of salt.

Re: 1726e

I purchased a 1705 in 2016. I have a bit over 400 hrs on it. I have not had any issues with the machine. I do a lot of work with it. You might trying out the sub section for massey to get more responses.

You should always try to negotiate. I use cash to get the best price. Don't be afraid to walk out. Some will budge some won't. Its certainly not like car shopping so ask for everything underneath the sun. Oil change package, filters and so on.

The economy models just skip features. Maybe a cheaper seat, no mid pto, things like that. They aren’t necessarily any poorer quality.

Ok, it doesn't sound like the MF tractors have a bad rap or anything. At least as far as I can tell from the feedback so far. Is it fair to say that they have a reputation of holding together as well as, say, a Kioti?
