Resized952017092495145332.jpgI have a 2017 Massey 1758 Hydro with 46 hrs. on it. The oil is totally broken down. The only use the tractor gets is cutting with an 8' brush hog. The grass is never taller than 10". I cut 6' at a time and leave 1' on each side overlap. The radiator screen is clean and all fluids are checked each time it is used. I cut 2.5 acres one week and 6 acres the next week. It takes about 15 min. to 20 min. for it to overheat and I can turn the heater to hot and in 3 to 5 min. it is cooled back down. Then it will go about 2000 ft. and overheat.

I cut in snail speed and it does not matter what my mph is. It does the same thing.

Is there an issue with these tractors. In Texas, it does get hot. Is the radiator too small, or is there insufficient trans cooling?

I welcome your comments.

Is the radiator full? Is there air in the system? Did your fan belt come off? Is your water pump turning? If the screen to the radiator is clear, and the fan is spinning then airflow isn't a problem, but if there is air in the system or the water pump is not pumping, then heat extraction is the problem.

The answer is no to your questions and radiator is full. Brand new tractor. It is at the dealership now. They are bringing factory in. Will let you know.

My guess would be a thermostat stuck shut. Good luck with it.

I had a used car and thought it time to change the TS so that I didn't have some problem down the road....what I had was working find mind you. First time out with it, pulling my boat back from the lake; overheat. Smoking gun: Brand new TS pivot had come off the seat and the thing was "stuck shut". It can happen!

Youæ±*e saying itç—´ a new tractor? Don稚 mess with it at all. Get on the phone with the dealer and have them do the fixing. At the least let their mechanic walk you through some checks . Thatç—´ where you put the old cell phone to good use. I had a couple things I handled that way with my 1736 and itç—´ easier than it sounds.
I really wouldn稚 recommend doing anything at all to it before consulting the dealer though. Just in case there痴 some kind of expensive warranty issue you would t want to wind up voiding it, ouch:thumbdown:

It is at the dealer. Has been there 2 weeks. No answers. Factory rep called in. No answers yet.

My 1758 recently started to heat up while brush hogging dry weeds. I cleaned the radiator screen and temps quickly went down.

I had the same thing happen on my MF GC1710 a while back. I've added the screen check as part of the pre-operational check.

Screens are perfectly clean. Checked every time. Dealer said it was not an air flow issue.
