I have a massey 240 , when you press the lift , it produces a "ka" sound as if it's trying to lift then stops. If you press to have lift to go down it does not respond there and there but will respond later slowly going down. Anyone ca assist on this?

First off is this a Massey fergusen
240
And are you talking rear hydralics
Because they run off a internal
Pump

Correct it's the internal pump that does not have pressure , so how can i fix the problem

Pull top cover relief valve blows up sometimes if older style also that way you can see of cover is ok
Just pull bolts around outside
And also pull standpipe cover and stand pipe you can check it first sometimes orings blow have seen standpipes broken also
How much play is on bushings of lift arms
Also when you try and lift it and it goes into constant pump will make a laboring noise and tractor will lug a bit
Anyway
Did you check pressure on at pipe plug on side of cover by standpipe
Also there is a screen on bottom three hole cover you can drain oil
Pull screen out and check it they are cleanable sometimes they look ok but are not brake clean wash really good do not over tighten it is not necessary
usually a cork gasket
If you don’t tear it to bad a little silicone works
They have not changed that cover in about twenty years so parts are available everywhere
Find and old it manual on eBay for a 245
They have a lot of information I have more but without seeing and looking at it I can just tell you a bunch of stuff picture is worth a thousand words
Cut my teeth on that equipment
And still working on it
