Massey 245 charging system

Hi I have a massey ferguson 245.

I'm having trouble keep the battery charged.

I can't see a wire from alternator to battery.

On the the alternator it says bat and that wire goes up to the Guage on dash.
Should there be one that goes to battery?

Thanks for your help this tractor is new to me and I'm trying to figure it out.

I've noticed that there is a two wire plug coming from the alternator.
Both wires are spliced together and carry on as one is that normal?

Yes it is normal.
Your "bat" wire probably goes to the starter and joins the battery cable.
Your alternator is probably bad.
With the engine running, you should have about 14 volts going to the battery.
Check it with a volt meter.
