Hi folks,
I'm looking at getting a Massey 4225. Anything I need to know or look for? Good/bad/ugly?
It has factory cab, MFWD, 12 speed (4x3) manual trans and mechanical reverser.
My concerns are these:
1. The speed and range shifting are done with one lever. You have speeds 1-4, then "+" and "-" for the ranges; moving to +/- bumps your range up or down. Does the mechanism hold up over time? Would prefer a second range lever....
2. There is no front frame or support (just the engine block). That may have worked old-school, but now you have a MFWD axle hanging from the engine? Maybe that Perkins block is built for it, but I'd hate to bump something and find out the hard way.
What I've found so far says this should be a solid basic tractor. Just looking for some input before I put the $$$ down.
