I was wondering if someone has had success with these models. Or can explain the fine differances between the two. I am looking at the 5445 and the dealer suggested I look at the 3635 model. I will be using it for brush-hogging, moving a lot of deep snow, and moving material around. The models I am looking at have the cab, cold weather set up, and self level buckets. I am located in Northern New England so the heated cab is a must! Can someone also let me know what ballpark I should be in $$$. I am set on buying a Massey (I just dont know what model to get?) because I have had one in the past and there are dealers close by. I am interested in a 70 hp tractor. Are there othe options in Massey I should be looking at. Thanks for your help in advance.

I looked at both and from what I recall the 5445 has more bells/whistles. Its like comparing a NH TN and TL that are similar in hp. I just bought a TN75 but did look at the 3635. Its a pretty nice setup and you certainly wont be disappointed. It can be had w/ a cab, 4wd and a 12x12 power shuttle. I think also 2 remotes + mid mounts are std. I priced it w/o cab or 4wd at 25k+. Im sure itll be more in NE though. I dont offhand remember exactly what the 5445 costs but I think its substantially more...but I cant be certain. Once I looked at the specs the 3500 series met all my reqs for less $$$.

The 5400 series is a higher spec tractor. It will out weight the 3600 series by about 2500lbs, if I remember correct. It will also be physically bigger. The 5400's are available with the Dyna-4 transmission rather than the standard power shuttle. The 5445 will have a 4cyl Perkins while the 3600 will have a 3 cyl SISU engine. Making the 5400's a bit longer. The 3600's look great and seem to be a well put togeather machine in my opinion, However depending on application, the extra weight may be needed. I have a 5435 that I bought to make hay, it is Excellent!

I live and farm in Florida and NC. I just recently purchased a MF 3635 cab model and love it so far. I have mine set up with a rake with thumbs installed for moving logs and rocks. I use rear mounted chipper, log splitter, bush hog, bat wing finish mower, hydro blade, box blade, rake, disc, plows, and stump grinder on the rear using the two factory remotes that pump out about 16 gpm. I also looked at the larger 5400 series, but decided it was too heavy to haul on my 14,000 lb equipment trailer along with all the accessories I use with the tractor, so I opted for the smaller but very powerful 3635. It boils down to what you want to use the tractor for and if you move it around, do you have the equipment to haul the larger tractor? The 5400 series also pumps out about 25 gpm which is too strong for my 30 ton log splitter unless I put a restrictor on the line. The 5400 series is also about 10 grand more to purchase. I find that the 3635 is not much larger than the 1455 MF compact I traded in for it, but it sure has twice the power of that 55 HP compact and the fuel consumption is about the same.

Caterpillar also sells the same tractors (3600 and 5400 series by MF) called a Challenger. These tractors are also sold in Europe as John Deere's. Go figure.... They are all good tractors. Depends on the color and who has the best deals.
