Hi all,
I recently purchased a farm from a widow whose husband had passed several years back. Included with the farm were 5 tractors. My father who is a good deal more machinery savvy than I has been going through servicing the machines (batteries, filters, oil, basics, grease).
One of the machines is a Massey Ferguson 573 with about 2,000 hours. When were first managed to get it fired off the engine ran great and the transmission shifted fairly well.
I put about 6 hours worth of seat time on the machine and it seems like the clutch has oddly started giving out.
At first it started off being slightly difficult to shift from the neutral starting position to any of the gears without grinding. Now the issue has progressively gotten worse and it's about impossible to shift from neutral to any of the gears without first putting the high/low selector into neutral, then selecting a gear, then putting it into high/low which is also grinding to a lesser extent.
Where do I start with diagnosing this issue?
I'm also having a problem with leak down on the 3pt hitch while bush hogging. Not sure if that would be related.
