. I have a charging problem with system on my circa 1985 MF 1020 2WD. I think the alt. is fine ( probably), BUT NOT SURE OF IT. I have a new battery installed, voltage across the terminals is about 12.8v,engine off. With the engine running and no access. turned on, voltage across the batt. stays about 16.8 to 17 volts. If I turn all the lights on, voltage across the batt. drops to 15.5 volts. This far too high, it's supposed to be around 14volts. No parts available from Massey dealers (sigh). Any advice about what I can do would greatly appreciated. Perhaps a conversion to an auto alternator with integral reg. ???

Does yours use a delco alt? Ytmage has some vregs under the 1020if your original reg was a 1119507

Otherwise see if arrowhead electrical products is in business.

Also check just tractorparts

In the end if the salt or very is bad, a delco 10si is 30$ from auto zone ..
