Masey Ferguson GC1725M
I recently purchased a Massey Ferguson GC1725M.

Removing the loader is giving me grief. The reason is that the loader support legs dig into the soft ground like a woman on stilettos. I can see why the instructions I've seen say to do this on a hard surface, unfortunately I don't have any hard surfaces on my property.

I am currently placing some old pieces of plywood under the support legs and this helps, but I am looking for a better solution.

My idea here is to find some type of metal foot that can be pinned to the bottom of the support through the hole that is used to pin the leg up while the loader is attached to the machine. I can probably get something fabricated by a local guy I know but before I do wanted to see if anyone can make any recommendations or give me any other ideas to solve my problem.

My only other solution would be to put in a cement pad where I want to store the loader, but this would be extremely difficult for me to get done.

Thank,

~JH

Get some crushed concrete and make a small pad for unloading. A couple blocks of wood seem like the easiest solution though. A couple of 24" 2x8's should give enough load spread to handle the weight pretty easily, unless it is just super muddy.

I ended up building a new shed and putting in crushed stone along one side wide enough to park the loader. This has helped. Taking the loader off on dirt was scaring the **** out me and the plywood didn't help this because it caused the bucket to be a foot off the ground with the support legs all the way down. The stone will work for the rest of this year since winter's coming and the next time it goes on it won't be coming off again till spring unless something unexpected happens. I also want to be able to store it under my solar when I want it off for a long time so next year I'll be putting in a cement pad there. My personal opinion is that those supports should have a flat surface to prevent them from digging into dirt. I can't be the only person with one of these things that needs to deal with this type of situation.

This sort of indicates to me you don't have good grasp on process.... First off the question is "was tractor/loader combo on flat ground"?...On my MF loader the is 3 positions to set leg height/angle.... A thin lay of plywood to keep feet from digging in should not have cause bucket to be a foot off ground a thin layer of plywood would act same as your suggested "plate" on bottom of legs.......

Yep, agree. And I'm curious how you get the loader off with the bucket off the ground? The support legs are there to basically hold up the loader arms when it detaches from the tractor. The weight is on the bucket or whatever implement you have on it. Attaching and removing a loader should be a 5 minute job.

I may have exaggerated the foot high, I was guestimating. Flat & out of the way are hard to come by for me as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the location where I was trying to remove it had the tracker several inches below the level of the bucket when on the ground even when using the position with the least angle which did not help the situation.

@workinonit, the supports were on the ground, it was just the bucket that was suspended.

I do have flat spaces, but the are not out of the way... using a bucket as a front lawn ornament didn't exactly appeal to my wife :p

I understand all the problems I was having and I'm not having this issue where I have it now because it is hard, level and mostly out of the way behind the shed. Now that I do have this location it does pop right off without a problem, I doubt it takes as long a 5 minutes.

I have (4) 1'x1'x1/2" plywood boards. How I do it, I put a board under each leg and 2 under each front corner of the bucket.

I always had more trouble dropping off the loader, compared to the backhoe. Daveknowshow on youtube had a video on removing the loader which helped me, the trick is to have the bucket curled down a little when you lower it, so that it makes contact with the ground first before the legs do.

Remove the pins while the loader is raised up, then lower the loader, have the curled down bucket make contact with the ground, before the legs do. Press it down a little until you see the loader arms separating a little from the vertical supports on the tractor, then curl the bucket up so that the lip is slightly raised off the ground as the legs make contact with the ground. If the loader doesn't pop off at this point, all you gotta do is hop off the tractor and go jump on the bucket, the loader will pop right off the tractor.

Massey Ferguson must be completely different from a JD. JD comes off nothing like that.

Yeh, I gotta give props to JD scuts, they're loader detach system is very slick.
