Hate to ask such a newbie question for my first post, but I'm looking for a compact tractor and ran across a current ebay add for a massey 1042....I can't find a single tidbit of information on this tractor. I see that Massey made a 1040 and a 1045........but I cant find a 1042. Looks like a clean tractor too. Looks like the stickers are legit....but what do I know. Any one heard of this model? Thanks in advance

I have owned my 1040 for few years now and other than a couple small things that needed fixing it has been a great tractor. Mine had 1300 hrs when I bought it and now is about 1500. It came with the Massey 232 FEL, and I paid $6000 at the time. There is nothing in Tractor Data about that model but possibly it was an over seas model that made its way back to the states. My 1040 is 32 engine hp with 28 at the pto. My tractor looks slightly larger than what I found on e-Bay. I will post a couple of shots of mine. Maybe some of the other fellas can help more.
BTW mine has a 122 cu in Toyosha 3 cylinder diesel and weighs in at 3800 lbs without the loader.

It almost has to be a Japanese gray that has been relabeled and painted. The "1042" is some larger than the Massey part. I don't think it was on the others like the 1040 was it, Scott? It also have a three speed PTO and paddy tires.

The tractor is also listed as 30 engine hp rather than 32 like mine. The tractor looks to be physically smaller than mine.Jerry what did you mean in your sentence, (the " 1042" is some larger than the part) ? Did you mean the lettering ?

Hello Scott. Yes, I was meaning the lettering down the side of the hood. I was looking at the Ebay pictures.
