Tractor
a dozen models of Massey Ferguson
Hello everyone, currently I restore an MF 1100 dated of 1966 according to tractordata. For the little history, with my dad we saved this model to scrap at two days near :

The vid駮 of rescue :
We never see the owner but the heir, the owner was dead in the meantime. The heir told us this tractor is the second model imported in France, out of 191.
After restart, I want to put new oil in gearbox, according to the user manual, the oil for lift, transmission and the others hydraulic equipement is the same.
For the first, I clean strainer located at the bottom of oilpan and changed the principal big oil filter in front of hood.
For the second, when I put oil with the cap in left of oilpan, I just put 30-32 liters and the oil overflowed but all manuals that I could read stipulated 64 liters of oil.
For the third, I restart engine and all equipements were working properly... but after a quarter of an hour and a test drive, the steering and lift were working less and less... Hydraulic of the tractor make sound asif the pump lacked oil, to finally stop walking. I never have this type of tractor previously and I'm pretty lost. I also miss some parts for finish my restoration but I Talk about this later.

Hello, today I drained oilpan to measure the oil that I had put on the last oil change. I opened the three drain plug under the oilpan and after reassembling them, I have refilled to get back 50 liters. I start engine, but my problem continue... no steering or lift, just a little. Multi-power and PTO clutch work properly, so the low pressure is good. But I don't have high pressure.

another problem, My 1100 is equipped with a strange filter for multi-power, in France this filter is really unobtainable :

Anyone have an adress for this filter ? Thanks.

What a fantastic big machine you have ... well done saving it!

The lift works off a hydraulic pump between the gearbox and rear axle gears. It has a filter on its intake or suction side which appears blocked. I have two smaller MFs - our 135 had the same problem and I found the filter is "wire-wool" which can be washed in solvent or gasoline and refitted. This filter can be accessed through one of the side covers - I'm not sure which one - but drain ALL the oil first. There will be a build-up of sludge and rubbish in the bottom of the casing. I believe the filter clips onto the pickup with a wire retainer. You really should find a workshop manual - it will help you a lot in the coming years. Search for a free download or buy a copy from AgcoPubs.

Keep us updated, there are a lot of enthusiastic guys here who can help. We also love pics! Good luck!

Hello PatrickS2222 and thanks for your response.
I have a workshop manual for 1105-1135, I will scan the diagram.

Hello everyone,
I realize that my photos of multipower filtrer did not display...

For my problem I realized that if I start the engine with the lift in max position and I push the valve placed in front of seat, the lift works perfectly ! But when my lift come to max position, the motor strength (before all that he did it and there were no problems) and High pressure disappears.. I think I have a valve in pump which remains open, but currently I have disassembled a lot of things and I do not find anything.

Hi,
I did a video to show the problem :

I also did a video when I restarted it for the first time after 15 years :

I was trying to understand the trouble you are having, but I cannot see well enough because the light is too poor.
If you shot the video outside the shed it would be much better, like the start-up after 15 years. Incidentally, I would not ever rev a cold diesel madly like that - especially having just started it after years of not running. Startup, watch oil pressure gauge and idle until you see oil pressure, allow to warm while driving gently - avoid heavy loads on engine and high revs until engine, oil and coolant is warmed thoroughly. ;) Take some care with this grand lady!
Any chance of re-shooting that demonstration for us? Also ... can your sub-titles be in English please? :drink:

Hello MF690T, on your next video can you be more steady and deliberate as you move around please? Slower movement makes it much easier to focus on things. Also more light is needed.

At the 36 second point, as the rear hydraulics reach maximum height the tractor barely changes engine note, it (engine)should lug down 2-300 rpm and the engine note will change so it sounds like it is working. I suspect you have a stuck or broken hydraulic valve.
