Massey Ferguson 135 question

Just bought a MF135, never had a M/F before, finally got it running, it had not been cranked in a year a half and the tank was empty, had bird nest in the air filter, like to have never got all the air out of the lines, whoever put that tank so close to the injectors never thought they would have to bleed them, but the hood was almost off and I took it off and I propped the tank up out of the way,, my question is on the front of the fuel injector there is a filler cap, what is this for and what do I need to put in there, the cap is missing, a rolled up piece of paper is the cap, it runs great averthing works good on it, it does not have power steering though. can't complain, got it for a song and I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

the 135 is a great tractor.

Many injector pumps are oil lubed and have a cam box that needs to be filled witht he same oil the engine used ( 15w40 C rated oil.. generically.. etc.. depending on climate ).

find something else for a cap.. you need to keep the sump clean and dry. ( no water..e tc..)

A rubber cork may work. I'm not up on that IP.. so don't know what size cap you are dealing with.. or if internal or external threads.

find SOMETHING though.

Alternately. call a local injector pump shop and ask them if they have a cap to fit. I believe that uses a something like a 153ci 3 cyl perkins engine..

Soundguy is correct--it's the fill tube for engine oil (6 quarts, 6.5 quarts with new filter). The transmission, differential and hydraulic system take hydraulic oil (8 gallons, MF spec M-1129).

Thanks for the info, never thought about this being the fill tube for the crankcase, will order a cap from a m/f dealer, closest one around is 50 mis. away, I also need to order a fuel tank cap, the one on it is loose, tractor seems to be in good cond after I finally got it cranked, has a pretty bad fuel leak on top of the injector where the throttle control goes in.
