Massey Ferguson 135 won't handle any load

Hi all,
New member, but have been reading this forum for a while. I have a MF 135 that came with the property I bought. It is the gas model. When i got the tractor several years ago, it ran well. Now it will start, run for a bit, and then begins to die, and you have to choke it to keep it running. Also, when it is running good (about 1 out of 6 times), when I put any kind of load on the tractor the same thing happens.
I took the tractor to a local dealer, that said they thought it was because it had low fuel and they sprayed the carbs. tractor came back, worked a little while, and now the same exact thing. Yes, it is full of gas.
Any ideas on what can cause it to die when any type of load is put on it?

Pull the carb and had it cleaned in a ultrasonic cleaner, renew all old and worn ignition parts.

Could be ignition, too. Might wanna look there first.

Start with the cheapest first. Check your points, plugs etc..... Distributor and cap. Not familiar with that exact model but it shouldn't be all that tough to track down. Even something as silly as an air filter.

Can't hurt to go through all of it.

In addition to the above ,

maybe verify full fuel flow from the tank. Crud tends to settle on and around the fuel taps. may be allowing just enough fuel to run for a short time but not keep the fuel bowl full. Let it sit,- fuel bowl has time to refill.
Check clean or replace as may be needed any filters and sight bowl.
Worked on an 8n ford that acted just like that and the tank fitting was almost completely closed off due to corrosion. Literally had to drill it out.
Have seen bad-Old plug wires cause a similar condition. fire up, idle ok, but put a load on the engine and lights out.

Good Luck and some interesting MF 135 reading on gravity feed that someone put a pressure fed fuel filter on - not a good idea.

And this might sound 'out there' but I had an old beater that idled fine until you put a load on it. Then it would start missing and wouldn't run right at all.

It was the coil. Don't me ask how, why or what for. No clue.

if you have to add choke and then it runs smooth, that's 100% a blocked carb.

More good fuel systems have been screwed up because of bad ignition. Check the spark first, make sure it is blue and snappy not yellow and lazy. Unless you have tuned it up lately I will bet your points are worn out, you need to have someone that knows how to read the wear on the points to do a proper tune up and leave the carb alone till your sure the ignition is right.

The intake manifold gasket was a culprit of the same symptoms on a 135 gas tractor that my dad had. To check this, while it is running and running rough spray wd-40, brake cleaner or carb cleaner all around the intake manifold and gasket and see if it clears it up for a few seconds. You could have a bad gasket or a cracked manifold that only show sup when it warms up.
