Massey Ferguson 1428 lift position - operation

New to the forum.


Bought a new 1428 with FEL. Rear lift lever has NO TENSION.
I own an OLD TO35 and the lever works like up, is up and down is down.
This model seems to only go up and stay up if I shut the valve off or hold the lever.

Sorry for the rambling. I feel like I am missing something about the operation. Could anyone advise me on the operation of the rear lift on a 1428? Really need to bushhog!

Well my 1531 does exactly the same thing. You probably have some bushings that need replaced. I have paid kanequip (A dealer in kansas) to replace the bushings three different times and it is screwed up again. In my opinion, it is another lovely massey ferguson terrible designs and they have a bunch of them. I am tired of spending money on this 1531 piece of crap. I just use the lowering rate control knob located between your legs to get everything to work. It is a pain in the butt, but I got over 30,000 dollars in this piece of crap agco calls a tractor. I've fixed things only to have them break again. Agco will not stand behind their equipment. It is terrible,

Kingpin4011 -- please note that Phillip W is trying to make a career out of bad mouthing Massey. So much so that you know ahead of time, regardless of the subject matter, his post will tell you how bad Agco is. Maybe so, but it has degenerated to the point where it is like crying wolf. Does not benefit either him nor us TBN participants.

Say what you want. Am I bashing massey ferguson and agco or telling it like is. The truth is the truth and the facts are the facts. There are two instances of 1500 series tractors with problems in the past week. People are unhappy with their 1700 series tractors. People having trouble with the. Dealer and agco standing behind the tractors and repairs. It is what it is. You can't tell me almost 800 dollars for a steering cylinder is not gouging. I can buy higher capacity cylinder all day long art farm and home or tractor supply for 100-150 dollars. An independent tractor repair will charge 35--50 dollars an hour for labor. They don't want to work on my little massey. The dealer is charging 100 dollars an hour for labor. Who is gouging who? If you a problem, the 3 independent tractor repair shops will stand behind their work while dealer will not. I had the dealer rbuild my four wheel drive and the the whole front axle almost come loose and dealer wouof not back it
It is what is, like it or not. Interesting enough this individual has the exact same problem I'm having. I have had the problem fixed three different times. Looks like a design flaw and as pattern to me.
