Massey ferguson 1529 skid plate

My dad uses his new 1529 mainly in the woods and for bush hogging and asked me to help him fab a skid plate to add some protection. We used 3/8" plate to add some weight as well. It fastens with four bolts using the loader sub frame brackets.

I like how you brought it out like that on the side. Only other thing I would consider is adding something to the right side to protect the hyd. lines that are exposed since you are working in the woods.

Does it hinder your access to any of the service points on the tractor.

We may add a guard of some sort for the loader lines. We drilled two inch holes for the grease fittings and tranny drain plug. We brought it out to the sides so it will sweep brush and saplings to the side and past the rear tire. We borrowed the idea from the tractors our local electric co-op uses to clear power lines. I hope it works as planned. I'm anxious to build one for my kubota now.

Great thinking upfront in regards to the holes to get to things. Most folks worry about getting the location of the mounting holes right, they forget all about the others. Seen it several times before.

Thanks for the compliment. I can't wait to see it in action. We've got some wood to get out if the weather cooperates this coming weekend...it'd be nice if it would warm up enough to paint it too.
