I have a 71 model massey Ferguson 165 that came with a mf 235 loader. I haven't put the loader on yet because I have a few things I need to do to the tractor first. My issue/question is my position for the 3 point lift doesn't work. The 3pt will raise and lower, even picks up heavy stuff pretty good. I have a spool valve on top of the lift cover with 3 levers. One of which I guess acts as a diverter valve. But, when pulled back it will lower the 3pt and stop when let go. Has it taken the place of the position control or is something else wrong. I'll try to include a picture of the valve.

It's normal when you have this type of valve, you have a level on it where you can choose how to operate the 3pt, with the extra valve or position/draft control. If you have orginal aux hydraulic it's a better choice for a loader.
