massey ferguson 1754
I have a 2016 Massey Ferguson model 1754. It has been a real pain in the rump. Every hundred hours or so it will fail to do the automatic regen and go into alarm and derate the engine. Then it takes the dealer 3 to 4 weeks to force a regen. This has happened 3 times in the last two years.

Anyone have any thoughts or similar experiences.

You need to find someone to do the (illegal) delete, reprogram the ecu and removal the stupid filter.

as long as you have this crap, there will be problems

It's not crap either if it operates as designed and the owner follows the instructions for operation in their owners manual. Emissions hardware and software are warranted for 5 years per the government so if their is an issue, it should be addressed by the dealer under warranty.

Having said that I don't own any T4 tractors and don't want one.

When owners start fiddling with the stuff, that is when issues arise and remember, 'deleting' stuff impacts the eventual resale. It renders the unit not marketable if trading in, just like modifying the ROPS. A dealer on trade will have to replace the the deleted items or he cannot by law, resell the unit.

The MF 1754 is a 2016 that I bought new in May of 2018. It has 850 hours on it. The tractor runs great except for this DPF issue. The owners manual is very limited in its instructions on the operation of the DPF and the regen process. The engin e is supposed to go into regen automatically when the pressure drop across the DPF exceeds 4 or 5 bars on the LCD display. It does this about 2/3 of the time, sometimes it jumps to full scale and goes into alarm. If it goes into alarm you only have a few minutes to load it on a trailer before the engine de-rates. According to the manual, you can force a regents. But that rarely works.

This particular system has a catalyst and a filter as near as I can tell. It has a temperature sensor on both the inlet and outlet and an oxygen sensor on the outlet. The DP sensor measures the the pressure across everything.

The tractor is under warranty until next May. That is when the real battle will start. Actually, I am about to sell the damned thing. Hopefully the new owner will have better luck.

My suggestion to you is sell it and buy a used pre 4 unit. That way you won't be damned at all.

I would sell it and either buy a used pre emissions tractor or consider a new Mahindra because they don’t have dpf
